Secretary of State Rex Tillerson went on Fox News and said that Obama’s 2015 Iran deal was “one of the worst and most one-sided transactions the United States has ever entered into.”
Than he said: “[it] really has to be revisited.”
Tillerson said the most obvious problem with the Iran deal was a stipulation that most of the key restrictions currently being imposed on Iran would be lifted in 2030- called the “sunset clause.”
“Unfortunately, this is what [U.S.] governments in the past did with North Korea. They just simply entered into agreements that were short-lived or were easily cheated on.”
“And I think that’s the president’s assessment of the Iranian nuclear agreement, is that it’s not a stiff enough agreement, it doesn’t slow their program enough and holding them accountable is difficult under the agreement.”
Obama negotiated the deal in 2015 with the U.S., Russia, China, France, Great Britain, and Germany.
After that Trump tweeted:
Obama’s nuclear deal with the Iranians will lead to a nuclear arms race in the Middle East. It has to be stopped.
